Orlando Bloom is set to return as Will Turner in the upcoming sixth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
The news was confirmed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who told The Hollywood Reporter that Bloom is “definitely” on board for the film.
Bloom first appeared as Will Turner in the original Pirates of the Caribbean film, released in 2003.
He reprised the role in the sequels Dead Man’s Chest (2006) and At World’s End (2007).
In the last film, Will was cursed to serve as the captain of the Flying Dutchman for 10 years.
It is unclear how Will’s character will factor into the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film. Bruckheimer said that the film will feature a “younger cast,” but he did not rule out the possibility of Bloom and other returning cast members having supporting roles.
